PPYC Club Boat Program 2017

Fellow PPYC Sailors:

An important decision has been made by the Board of Directors. At the recent Board meeting, after a club-wide survey, months of input from individual members and careful consideration, the Board of Directors has taken action to keep PPYC’s Club Boat Program in place for at least the next two years. Though significant changes have been made to the program, the bottom line is Club Boats will continue to be available for educational activities such as LATH and the Basic Sailing Course. The boats will also be available for personal use to some members, albeit with new parameters. A new budget has been created that will keep the boats in better repair and fees will continue to be very reasonable. To make all this possible, regrettably, PPYC will be letting go of the club’s Northstar 500, S2 7.3 and O’Day Day Sailer so that new owners may give these boats the care they deserve. The boats will be offered to PPYC members for purchase at a discount and the Board is hopeful they will all find new homes with PPYC members at Hamilton Creek.

For those members who are Club Boat users, nothing will change for the rest of 2016. It’s important, however, that you start thinking about whether you’d like to pay the Club Boat fee again next year since it will be due at the same time as your membership dues and space in the program will be limited. Next year, all Club Boat users will have access to both the Catalina 22 (Manner) and the O'Day 23 (Phillips). The Club Boat fee will be $370.00.

This has been an extremely difficult issue to resolve and a wrenching decision for every Board member. However, the majority of the Board believes the best possible outcome for all sides was reached and is very hopeful the club can now move forward.
